The HUSUM Wind fair
From September 12 – 15 is the time! The entire German wind industry as well as international players will meet in the North Frisian HUSUM. With more than 600 national and international companies presenting their products and services to the 20,000 visitors, the HUSUM Wind fair is the leading trade fair for the German wind industry. The exhibition spectrum of the HUSUM Wind fair is supplemented by a top-class accompanying congress with current topics from the wind energy sector.
Community booth”Young innovative companies”
We from fos4X will of course participate at this event and will be exhibiting at the community booth “Young Innovative Companies” – Booth 2E.01P in Hall 2 – to present our future-oriented, fiber-optic technology and the products and solutions based on it. For a better understanding, we will present our own demonstrator – a model of a rotor blade – for the first time this year.
The focus of our product- and service-portfolio this year is our innovative, modular fos4Blade sensor platform for collecting all relevant data from the rotor blades and the tower of a wind turbine. The fos4Blade sensor platform is designed as the new standard for rotor blade measurements. It consists of several fiber-optic strain sensors and fiber-optic vibration sensors per rotor blade.
The sensors are read out by a fiber-optic measuring device. The fiber-optic measured variables are finally translated by the Blade Physics Library into easy-to-use characteristics of the rotor and are provided by fieldbus or IIoT interface.

Sensors in each rotor blade
The rules of classical mechanical engineering and turbine construction are well-developed. In wind energy, as in many other industries, the next wave of innovation is driven by sensors and information. Our Founder and CEO, Dr. Lars Hoffmann says:
“We assume that in a few years every new rotor blade will be equipped with a large number of sensors at the factory. This is a very dynamic market with a dynamic niche. And we have a fantastic starting point in this niche.”
Applications for optimizing the operation of wind turbines
Based on the sensor technology and our open sensor platform, we also offer Edge Computing Software – our apps for operation optimization. The analysis of the acquired data of our sensors as well as of the turbine data is carried out on the basis of algorithms which analyze the collected data on the system itself, generate information and generate operating instructions, ie control the system.
For example, our serial solutions for turbine optimization such as load measurement, ice detection or condition monitoring can be reliably and cost-competitively implemented.
