The founders of fos4X GmbH were aware of these limitations and these were a thorn in their side. Propelled by their own ambition and the need for a reliable and robust measuring system based on fiber optics, the team of fos4X developed the technology that gave them an enormous competitive edge in the field of fiber optic measurement technology. A patent for a highly dynamic measurement method was finally the breakthrough. Many industrial projects followed during the research and led to the foundation of fos4X GmbH.
Meanwhile, the measurement methods but also the fundamental sensor technology regarding robustness were developed in cooperation with industrial customers. fos4X now offers two fundamentally different fiber optic measurement methods:
- for highly dynamic measurements
- for distributed measurements

Not only the fiber optic sensors and fiber optic measuring equipment have to meet the requirements of industry, but also the installation of the sensors must be adapted to the production conditions. In the context of an installation training, the necessary knowledge is taught in a compact and practical manner.

Applications of fiber optic measurement in modern lightweight construction and infrastructure monitoring
The basic advantages of this fiber optic measurement technology provide the perfect condition for use in the monitoring of lightweight structures, the R&D environment, in the functional integration or when monitoring infrastructure. In custom development projects we are realizing the serial integration of our technology in different industries.
In the field of renewable energy, our measurement systems are already in serial use in wind turbines, for example as ice detection system or rotor blade monitoring.
